Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC hereafter) stood out with its vibrant international flair and energetic presentation at the opening ceremony of the SJTU 51st Sports Games held on May 16 at the Hu Fa-Kuang Stadium of the university’s Minhang campus. Seventy teams representing schools, departments, and affiliated units across the university participated in the parade-style entrance ceremony.
Leading the procession were the college’s signature blue tiger mascot and a “Flying Blue Tiger” balloon, which immediately drew attention from the audience and enlivened the atmosphere at the stadium. GC’s international faculty members appeared in traditional Chinese attire, while faculty, staff and students carried signs representing the college’s global partner universities. The procession highlighted GC’s international education philosophy of “self-driven leadership with diversified global partnerships” and reflected the college’s multicultural campus environment.
The delegation enthusiastically chanted the slogan “Set sail with GC, ride the waves! Go Global!” showcasing the confidence, vitality, and enterprising spirit of the GC community. The performance also embodied the resilience and ambition of GC community as they continue to pursue academic excellence and global engagement.
This year’s SJTU sports games emphasized the integration of athletic competition, mass participation, and recreational activities. Through a wide range of sporting events and wellness programs, the university aims to promote physical fitness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and foster a vibrant campus sports culture centered on the spirit of “Love SJTU, Love Sports.”
In the coming days, the GC delegation will continue competing in various individual and team events, as well as participating in featured activities such as the campus fitness walk. The GC community looks forward to achieving strong performances throughout the games.
