The center is equipped with a wide range of robotic platforms, substantial computational resources, advanced sensing equipment, and extensive experience in the R&D of robotic systems. It is supported by major research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Avionics Integration and Aviation System-of-Systems Synthesis, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Key Laboratory of System Control and Information Processing, the MOE Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence, and the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Beidou Navigation and Positioning Services.

Its research focuses on fundamental theories, advanced methods, and key technologies in autonomous unmanned systems and information processing. Significant achievements have been made in robot localization and navigation, intelligent mobile manipulators, mobile robotics, medical surgical robots, and UAV intelligent control.
Research outputs have been published in top-tier journals such as IEEE Transactions on Robotics, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, and International Journal of Robotics Research, with over 100 IEEE journal papers. The center also collaborates closely with leading high-tech enterprises worldwide to promote the engineering application and industrialization of robotic technologies, supporting national strategic needs and the development of the intelligent equipment industry.
