The men’s team of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC) has achieved runner-up in the 2025 Shanghai Jiao Tong University Freshmen Cup Men’s Basketball Tournament, concluding nearly two months of competition with a strong overall performance.
The “Freshmen Cup” is one of SJTU’s major annual sports events, open to all undergraduate and graduate students. This year’s basketball tournament brought together 49 teams from across the university. Advancing through the group stage and knockout rounds, the GC team demonstrated strong execution and consistency to reach the final.
In the championship game, the team faced Antai College in a fast-paced, high-intensity matchup. After trailing by 13 points at halftime, the players made effective tactical adjustments and launched a determined comeback in the second half. With strengthened perimeter defense, coordinated help coverage, and efficient use of height advantages in the paint, the team narrowed the gap to just four points, energizing the atmosphere on-site. Despite their efforts, they ultimately finished in second place.
