On October 23, a delegation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC hereafter) to discuss undergraduate dual-degree programs and cooperation in undergraduate education. The delegation also held a program information session for GC students.

The delegation included Professor Seah Leong Keey, undergraduate education lead at NTU’s School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Professor Teh Kah Chan, undergraduate curriculum and assessment lead at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Clement Cheong, undergraduate affairs lead at the College of Engineering; and Wei Zhang, director of the China Affairs Office. GC representatives included Dean Hesheng Wang, Associate Dean for International Cooperation and Exchange David Hung, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education Gang Zheng, Deputy Party Secretary Xiaoling Wu, and Viva Du, Manager of the International Programs Office.

The delegation toured Long Bin Building to learn about GC’s teaching facilities and educational environment before meeting with GC representatives. Discussions focused on curriculum alignment, teaching arrangements and ways to improve coordination between the two universities.

In a session on curriculum and student development, Seah Leong Keey and Teh Kah Chan met with GC faculty members to discuss course equivalencies and the alignment of academic requirements. Meanwhile, Clement Cheong and Wei Zhang met with GC administrative staff to discuss program operations, coordination procedures and next steps.

In the afternoon, the NTU delegation held an information session at the CIMC Auditorium. Representatives introduced NTU’s College of Engineering and explained the dual-degree program’s curriculum, study plan and timeline. They also answered students’ questions about application procedures, admission requirements and fees. Separate presentations covered the academic features and requirements of the electrical and electronic engineering and mechanical engineering tracks.

SJTU and NTU launched a new undergraduate dual-degree program in 2026, building on their longstanding partnership. The program enables students from both universities to study at SJTU and NTU and, upon completing the academic requirements, earn a bachelor’s degree from each university. The first cohort of GC students is expected to apply by the end of 2026 and begin studying in Singapore in August 2027. The first cohort of NTU students has completed the application process and is scheduled to come to China for study in May 2027.

As GC’s first bilateral undergraduate dual-degree program, the initiative expands opportunities for students at both universities to gain international academic experience. By combining the strengths and resources of SJTU and NTU, the program aims to support students’ academic development and prepare them for careers in an increasingly interconnected world.
