Abstract
This dissertation presents the Subsignals Technique for Estimating Parameters of Signals (STEPS), a novel framework for accurately estimating frequency, amplitude, phase, and damping in complex, noisy signals. STEPS extracts multiple subsignals and exploits their collective spectral information via the DFT to build equations linking spectral features to unknown parameters. The method is extended from 1D single-frequency to multi-frequency, multidimensional, and damped signals, outperforming conventional techniques. Applications include SAFE for FMCW radar, achieving high accuracy, and vision-based 3DoF pose estimation with nanometer precision, validated through theory, simulation, and real-world experiments.
