Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC hereafter) held its 2026 Graduate Commencement Ceremony at the CIMC Auditorium of Long Bin Building on March 27. College leaders, faculty and staff representatives, and the Class of 2026 master’s and doctoral graduates gathered to celebrate this important milestone.

In his opening address, Chairman of the GC Council Haojin Zhu congratulated the graduates on completing their academic journey and encouraged them to view graduation as both a culmination of their time at SJTU and the beginning of a new chapter. He called on students to cultivate distinctive strengths, develop lifelong learning habits in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, and remain grateful while carrying forward the values and experiences gained at the college.

Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Associate Professor Chong Han reflected on the transition from academic life to broader society. He encouraged graduates to sustain intellectual curiosity, remain resilient in the face of challenges, and pursue goals that connect personal aspirations with societal needs. He also urged them to embrace innovation and contribute meaningful work in their respective fields.

Yadong Wu, a 2012 undergraduate alumnus and 2015 master’s alumnus of GC and currently an associate professor at the SJTU John Hopcroft Center for Computer Science, delivered a keynote speech. Drawing on his academic and professional experience, he emphasized the importance of developing expertise, setting clear long-term goals, and maintaining persistence throughout one’s career journey.

During the ceremony, Professor Peisen Huang announced the list of outstanding graduates, and certificates were presented in recognition of their achievements.

Student representatives also shared reflections on their time at the College. Doctoral graduate Yiqin Wang described graduation as a significant milestone shaped by perseverance and encouraged her peers to remain confident in their choices and committed to their goals.

Master’s graduate Zebin Sun highlighted the importance of following one’s inner interests in an increasingly competitive environment and carrying forward the values of continuous learning and openness fostered at the college.

In his concluding remarks, GC Dean Hesheng Wang noted that the graduating class has witnessed and contributed to the college’s ongoing development, bringing vitality to its academic and research environment. Looking ahead, he encouraged graduates to remain curious, embrace challenges, and take on responsibility in a rapidly changing world. He reaffirmed that the college will continue to support its alumni and welcomed them to return and share their future achievements.

During the ceremony,  Taiyu Su and Shaoli Hu were appointed Class Directors for the new graduates of Class 2026.

Degree awarding ceremony was held afterwards. The graduates in personalized academical dresses had their tassels turned and received their degree certificates.
