Christian Wolfrum, Senior Vice President and Provost of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, led a delegation to visit Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC hereafter) on September 18. The two sides held discussions on talent cultivation, expanding international education programs, and advancing ongoing collaborative initiatives.

SJTU Vice President Weidong Liu welcomed the NTU delegation and highlighted the long-standing partnership between SJTU and NTU. He noted that the two universities have maintained close cooperation in talent cultivation, research, and international education, and expressed the hope that both sides would further strengthen communication and advance joint programs.
GC Dean Hesheng Wang introduced the college’s development and educational mission. He said that GC is committed to cultivating students with global perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills. Building on the existing partnership, GC looks forward to expanding cooperation with NTU and providing students with more international learning opportunities.
Christian Wolfrum introduced NTU’s international education initiatives and expressed NTU’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with SJTU. He said that NTU looks forward to working with SJTU to advance existing programs and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Before the meeting, the delegation visited GC and learned about its educational environment, talent cultivation model, and international cooperation initiatives.
Wolfrum later delivered a presentation to GC students, introducing NTU’s academic programs, undergraduate dual-degree opportunities, and Global Degree Pathways (GDP) programs. He also exchanged views with students on international study opportunities.
In 2026, SJTU and NTU will launch a new undergraduate dual-degree program in engineering based on their existing cooperation. The program will allow students from both universities to pursue dual-degree studies at SJTU and NTU. The first cohort of GC students will apply at the end of 2026 and begin their studies in Singapore in August 2027. The first cohort of NTU students has completed the application process and will come to China for study in May 2027.The new program expands the partnership between SJTU and NTU and provides students with additional opportunities for international academic experiences.
